Happy New Year!!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR LOVELIES
Well, I told you guys I wasn't going to bombard your email inbox with Newsletters from me but didn't expect to not connect here with my wonderful mailing list peeps since August. Wow!! Firstly I want to wish everyone a truly blessed and Happy New Year. Hope it was a happy holiday season for you guys and hello to all the new mailing list members, thanks and welcome!!

I'm happy to say I'm back living in Nashville TN as of mid December after being in Dallas TX for almost 3 years. I loved Dallas but it was time to go and really put down some roots. I have moved and moved and moved and I'm just so ready to live somewhere and call it home.  I love Nashville and as many of you know, lived here from around 2008 for about 5 year. My Mom and Step Dad live here so life has brought me in a big circle all the way back to beautiful music city and I'm loving it already.

I had an extraordinary year I have to say, 2014 was really wonderful for me and I felt long overdue for one this fantastic. I toured and toured all over regionally as a backup singer with the brilliant Pink Floyd Tribute band
Bricks in the wall

We toured our butts off and sold out venues night after night such as the House of Blues in Dallas, New Orleans, Houston and great shows of more than 3000 fans in Corpus Christi TX . I have alway loved the music of Pink Floyd, so to get to perform these iconic songs with the level of musicianship in the band was truly an incredible ride. I made some life long friends but with all rides, they must come to an end and of course with my move back to Nashville I passed the torch. But no regrets only love and excitement for everything planned for this year.

2014 also had me flying on a million planes all over the USA and Canada to meet the Truly outrageous Jem fans.
I'm calling it
"The Jem Tour"

I swear I now know what it's like to have trouble remembering where you were last week or what city you are in. It took me to so many wonderful cities and shows including my first Transformers convention www.botcon.com in CA for my voice-over work on the original Transformers series. That one was amazing as I got to re unite with the voice of Stormer from JEM Sue Blu.

See tons of great photo's of meeting the fans on my official FACEBOOK page

I have to pinch myself sometimes that I actually get to do this and be nothing less than your ambassador for Jem and all she stands for. I truly do understand the levity of nostalgia and appreciate so much meeting the fans of the show. I swear I see the 8 year old kids behind your eyes and the wonderful excitement when get to connect and you hear me speak and see my pink hair. You tell me how much Jem has meant to you and are so thrilled that my voice still sounds the same as It did when I was Jem and Jerrica and It's beyond lovely to have these precious moments with you guys, I feel honored and humbled every time.

One of the major highlights of the year for myself and of course the Jem fan base was the announcement finally of the  JEM AND THE HOLOGRAMS feature film.

A live action Jem movie that the fans have been asking for for many many years.
The movie is directed by Jon M. Chu and Written by Ryan Landels.
Produced by Jason Blum
Scooter Braun
Brian Goldner
Stephen Davis
Bennett Schneir
Jon M. Chu
In April, it was announced that Aubrey Peeples had been cast as Jem, with Stefanie Scott as Kimber,Hayley Kiyoko as Aja, and Aurora Perrineau as Shana. On April 30, actor Ryan Guzman was cast as Rio On May 19, Juliette Lewis was added to the cast of the film. On May 20, Molly Ringwald joined the film. and Universal is distributing and releasing Jem and the holograms October 23rd of this year.

In strange Serendipity I was musing for a change with my hair, a re-invention if you will. Sometimes that's all it takes to change your vibration so I made it happen in late April.  A lovely Sienna Miller rose gold color as I was much tired of my blonde locks. A sweet friend of mine saw the photo of my new hair and said "You know Sam, it's not such a stretch to go pink with your hair, I think you should just go for it" Thanks Casey as that is exactly what I did and it' wasn't a few days after I did Pink hair that I got a private message from director Jon Chu asking me if I'd join the cast of the new Jem movie and allow him write a special cameo for me. Of course suddenly I was afraid that there would be too many little miss pink hairs on the set with the new Jem and myself but my manager sent photos and Jon loved it and it all was as I say "Meant to be".

Right after I shot the movie before I headed back to Texas - I was invited to be a part of the Dream Loud campaign that encourages schools to keep their music programs alive. Many faces you might know from film and TV have shot for this project and of course I jumped at the opportunity to be involved with such a great cause - The only thing I loved about school and made me want to show up was choir and reading - here are a couple of pics from the shoot.
Check out the Dream Loud official website for more info

I was thrilled to meet my wonderful manager this year Tim Bendig at In Person Productions. Tim books all my convention appearences and is so kind and lovely and smart and a bulldog when needed and I couldn't be more grateful to have him and his wonderful partner James on my team. So please stay connected as I already have bookings starting in February so check my tour schedule here frequently and maybe I'll be coming to a city near you this year!!!

On the music front, I do want to mention that I have a bunch of new original material in the works for my up coming third solo release due out later this year 2015. I'm so excited to be working on new music with Dave Polich and will keep you all posted on that as it unfolds.

In voice-over news I was cast in the new animated short feature film "HG CHICKEN AND THE CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER"
From the same team that brought you the festival favorite animated "Pound dogs" HG Chicken is an animated comedy short film by Mike Salva, starring the voice talents of comedians Bobcat Goldthwait as HG Chicken, Jonathan Katz as Teak the robot, Maria Bamford as Kristal, and Todd Barry as Zee. The cast also includes Lloyd Kaufman (director of the Toxic Avenger films and Class of Nuke'Em High), Herschell Gordon Lewis (director of Blood Feast and 2000 Maniacs) and Trevor Lissauer (Sabrina the Teenage Witch). The project has wrapped and will be due out in 2015

2014 saw me also invited to do voice-over for a super fun Halloween project called
Vault of the Macabre

An anthology of 4 short horror/macabre poems, narrated by myself and  Elvira (Mistress of the dark), Clive Barker (creator of Hellraiser, Nightbreed, candyman) Adam Baldwin (Firefly, serenity, chuck, angel)  Larry Kenney ( Voice of Lion'o - Thundercats). An original Score from composer Russell Bell and featuring James Unsworth and Jane Elsmore. "The cautionary tale of Maudlin Monroe" "The macabre madness of Mortulia Morose" "Maurice the morose clown" "Dave the demented hermit" Created and directed by Darren Field.

And as if the movie and the dolls weren't enough 2014 brought
Happy Honda days commercials featuring the brand new Integrity Hollywood Jem doll narrating the spots with a GI Joe Doll. The commercials were so much fun but the Jem fans were truly up in arms that Honda didn't ask me to voice Jem. They were less than happy with the the girl that did the spots so I decided to redo the voice-over for the fans and the second one is a fan made video with my voice too -  watch here!!

March 2015
will see the launch of the truly outrageous

Jem and the holograms comic book
- It just keeps getting more and more fun. IDW publishing and Hasbro are set to launch a brand new "JEM" comic book series and the buzz is ramping up. The artwork is crazy cool I can't wait to get my hands on some copies and enjoy them for myself.
It is the 30 anniversary of the animated Jem series so it seems fitting that Hasbro is working tirelessly to bring Jem and Jem fans together again in 2015.

There have just been so many wonderful moments, too many to even mention but I just can't thank the fans enough for their love and support. And my truly outrageous TEAM I couldn't do this without you guys (Will, Tim, James, Narciso, Geo, JeffX and Rick Suweidan) You rock!! here's to a fantastic new year!!!

Wishing you all a tremendously successful 2015 - I'll keep you posted, thanks so much for reading
Stay outrageous!!

Love and hugs,
Sam xo

News from Dallas TX and the road . . .

Hey everyone,
I hope your summer so far has been amazing!! you know it's getting close to the end of Summer when you start to see the back to school adds on TV but wow I have loved mine so far this year and it's ramping up to get really busy by September.
Hi to all my new mailing list friends and many wonderful new followers here - It was time to write a newsletter and blog and catch Ya'll up on stuff and things :-)

I have had such a wonderful busy year so far, January saw the end of quite a journey with my involvement in rock band Lydias Libido but it quickly turned out to be such a wonderful blessing in disguise with no regrets. I got an amazing new manager Tim Bendig who is just a wonderful guy so supportive and has been kicking butt on my behalf.
Not long after I quit the band, I dyed my hair pink for a much needed change and then received the news that Jem and the holograms was being made into a major motion picture.
I got a wonderful private message on Twitter from director Jon Chu that he wanted to write a special part for me and include me in the film which was such a major shout out to the original Jem fans.
I said "YES" of course and excitedly flew to Los Angeles to shoot my top secret cameo in  May 5th.
It was a pretty surreal experience to say the least, walking onto the lot and seeing the trailers marked
"Jerrica" "Aja" "Shana" "Kimber"
and getting my top secret sides for the day. I took this selfie with my Jem doll (had to bring her with me) as I waited to be called to hair and makeup.  As with showbiz you get all made up and dressed and then sit for 7 or 8 hours but I actually spent much of the day getting to watch the girls and actress Juliette Lewis work which was pretty awesome.
Director Jon Chu was incredibly gracious and made it known to the whole cast and crew that I was the original Jem and Jerrica and they all took a moment on the set to applaud and welcome me which was incredibly kind and humbling and also really put the pressure on to try and deliver with no rehearsal and all kinds making it happen on the fly with jon throwing ideas out and just trying stuff.
The Holograms are beyond adorable and AMAZING!! and I'm not allowed to tell you what I do in the film but Jon Chu is a huge Jem fan, he grew up with the series and his heart is seriously in this film and although I know the fans are freaking out about changes that had to be made to bring it to 2014 I think it will be wonderfuly done.
Jon actually sat with me at lunch and told me some top secret stuff that really made me happy so now we just wait and see when Universal will announce the release date.
Cramming everything in before I left LA I was asked to shoot photos for a talented friend Brad Everett Young for a wonderful campaign to keep music alive in schools - check out the link for more info
www.dreamloudofficial.com
It is something dear to my heart as I was a super creative musicial kid and was lucky enough to have the music programs that really contributed to me growing and learning my craft.
These are some pics that have been published from the shoot with more to come soon:
This summer has also been majorly rockin on the music front as I have been singing and performing live with the most amazing group of musicians I could hope to work with in the Pink Floyd tribute band
www.bricksinthewall.com
We have been playing to sold out crowds at House of blues venues in New Orleans, Dallas, Houston, we also sold out an outdoor venue in Corpus Christy TX for 3500 Pink Floyd fans. And have another show this weekend in San Antonio TX outside downtown at night!!! at Backstage Live so fun I can't wait.
It's just one of those things you hope to experience as a performer when you have a packed house of fans that know every song and every lyric and they are having an amazing experience singing along with you with cell phones now lit up and waving instead of lighters.
I can't even begin to describe how rewarding that has been as a performer.
I also get to sing my butt of with two amazing women who have become my dear friends. Tiffany Belle and Rachel Beene and we get to sing the beautiful background vocals to Pink Floyd and sing the iconic "Great gig in the sky" during each set each taking a section and the crowds just go bonkers.
Everyone in the band is just a total pro from all the musicians to the amazing sound and lighting and lazar crew - just so blessed to be doing this for over a year now.
On the voice-over front
I just worked on a new animated short film with director writer Mike Salva. I was a part of his animated movie in 2012 Pound Dogs that went on to win many awards including two development deals with MTV and now he is embarking on a brand new project called
HG Chicken with
Bobcat Goldthwait, Jonathan Katz,Todd Barry, Troma Entertainment's honcho, Lloyd Kaufman; comedian Maria Bamford (Arrested Development); Trevor Lissauer (Sabrina the Teenage Witch); and legendary horror filmmaker Herschell Gordon Lewis.

I'm sure it will be as deliciously twisted as Pound Dogs and It was super fun to be invited to be a part of, can't wait to see it.

Lastly I have been traveling and will travel much more this year with convention appearances in the US and Internationally for my work on Jem and the Transformers cartoons.
I was invited to appear at my first Transformers convention in Pasadena in June and it was really awesome.
I was reunited with my Jem co-star Jack Angel and my old LA voice agent Arlene Thornton. Got to spend some real time with the amazing Transformers voice talent and then got to see Sue Blu who played Stormer on Jem having not seen each other since we worked on the show
- the weekend was beyond fantastic and the fans loved it!!!

Now that's TRULY OUTRAGEOUS!!

Hey everyone,
March is almost over and I'm so in love with seeing the little buds starting to appear on the very winter weary trees around town, who knew Texas could get so crazy cold. We had TWO Ice storms this year, that shut everything down, it was just nuts - maybe further South like Austin would be a better plan, Seriously!!  I'll be so happy to enjoy some tank top weather and pull all the plants outside onto the patio for another hot summer in Texas. This has been quite the brutal winter for so many across the country so here's to some much needed relief for us all.

March is shaping up to be really exciting - so many fun things afoot, one of the the most Truly Outrageous pieces of news was the big announcement just this week of a
Live action JEM feature film .
The fans have been relentless in their persuit of news about a JEM movie for years and now finally we know it is actually happening. What I do love is that they are asking the fans what they want to see and inviting them to actually audition and submit ideas, and even submit music for the film so that is something I would love to be involved in - keep you posted!!! meanwhile you can read all about the movie in the press via
"Rolling Stone"  LA Times CNN  MTV "Time" "Forbes" "Us Mag" and on and on

- Sadly Christy Marx the creator of JEM was not invited on board, so time will tell if any of us from the original cast will get an invite to appear in the film adaptation of this awesome and iconic cartoon.  I'd say a cool cameo would be a blast and the fans would freekin' love it!!! so if you are a JEM fan, nows the time to let your voices be heard!!!

I am excited to have a brand new manager for my celebrity appearences
and quite a lot of shows and celebrity dates to meet the wonderful fans across the country in Texas, South Carolina, Rhode Island, Orlando Florida, and even Toronto Canada for this years International JEMCON .
I'll also be on my way to Pasadena, CA in June to be a guest for my work on Transformers at
Botcon
a huge Transformers convention and the 30th anniversary of the Transformers brand. I played 3 different roles on the original Transformers cartoon series and although the roles were small, it is still so cool to have leant my voice-work to such an iconic brand and It will be the first time seeing Sue Blu who played "Stormer" in JEM since working on the show so I'm really excited about that.

I'll be heading back into the studio in LA in June to work on brand new originial music with my wonderful long time producer and friend
Dave Polich to finish some new music we started a few months back. I also get to shoot a cool public service announcement for a really good cause (More details on that soon) and lastly on my trip to Sunny CA a music video shoot for my new song "Can I get a hey yea".

I'm also continuing to do quite a bit of singing for
Bricks in the wall
an amazing and super talented and realistic Pink Floyd tribute band. We have some big shows all through the Spring and Summer playing venues like The House Of Blues so please check out my events calendar for all shows and event details for the next coming months.

So there ya'll are caught up on the happenings for now, you guys are so awesome and I love to be able to share what's going on with everything in my JEM world and my music!!!

"Stay outrageous"

Love Sam xo

Back on track!! Happy January everyone

Hey there friends, music peeps, and the Truly outrageous Jem community,
I haven't posted here in forever it feels - I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and New Years with their families.
For me It all seems a blur since October really when I embarked on a super fun tour with my band at the time Lydias Libido to promote our debut album.
We actually kicked serious ass and got out there and traveled and played music for people in St Louis, Nashville, Cleveland, Chicago, New York and it was a highlight of last year for me for sure.
As you know the life of bands can be crazy and often somewhat short lived - this one about 8 months for me wishing to front the project but sometimes you just have to be brave and close a door and move on and I'm in a good place and I wish them well on their music journey.
Now that I have the wind back in my sails, I can't tell you how excited I am to focus on songs songs songs that I've recorded and ones written yet to be recorded and a new band that I'm working to put together. I am so excited to start getting out performing and playing locally and find some great people to work with.
I also have to thank my friends in the amazing Pink Floyd tribute project I sing with, they are beyond fantastic and kind beyond kind and so bloody talented. We have played some awesome shows together in 2013 including two sold out headlining shows at The House Of Blues (Houston) and House of Blues (Dallas). I can't wait to do more gigs with them this coming year, so be sure to check out http://www.bricksinthewall.com for event info.
My calendar is starting to roll with some really fun convention appearances this year to meet the ever and truly outrageous "JEM" fans and Transformers fans so please check the events page on my official site http://www.samanthanewark.com as well as my facebook page and sign my mailing list to see if I am coming to your neck of the woods this year and can meet you in person.
Cheers everyone,
fun new news and music news coming soon!!!

Happy October!!!!

Hi Everyone,
Hope you all had a fantastic summer and are looking forward to the lovely change of season that is approaching.
I love Texas (Dallas) to be specific and September makes it a whole year calling Texas my home. I have to say I'm digging the fall weather that is slowly creeping in - summers here are pretty crazy hot here.

I have so much news, I don't hardly know where to start, so forgive me if I'm a bit all over the place trying to catch you up on all the fun music and JEM stuff Forgive me if I'm repeating anything I may have covered previously.
.
March I was a guest at All-Con in Dallas Texas a really fun Pop Culture convention and I was a celebrity guest representing my work on JEM AND THE HOLOGRAMS - it was really a great show and so wonderful to meet all the JEM fans there and I got to see and autograph some of the beautiful new collector JEM dolls while I was there - pretty cool!!.

April and May,  I was working on tweaking my brand new material for my 3rd album and come JUNE,  I was off and running, back in Los Angeles for a crazy week to record vocals for my new album with the wonderful talented producer Dave Polich who produced my record  "Somethin' Good" back in 2011. Record release date for my third album is pending as I have so much going on right now. Dave also has been incredibly busy on the road himself as keyboard programmer for David Foster and The Cure and many others. I love, love the new songs on my record and I can't wait to share them with you guys but timing is everything so I'll keep you posted!!

You may have heard some of the music from my album "Somethin' Good" on TV this year too! Dave and I landed some cool licensing stuff - "Hands on me" was used on the TV show "Hollywood Heights" and also on Bravo's new show "Eat Pray Love" and "I got everything" was used on the TV show "Bad girls club"
JUNE MY BIRTHDAY
was TRULY OUTRAGEOUS!! a whole lot of JEM fans got together on the Jem community message boards and in secret arranged with my Mom to surprise me at my Birthday dinner in Dallas. Jem fans drove up from Houston and different places in Texas and after my wonderful Italian Birthday meal I was ushered by my family onto the outside porch for Bday cake and there sitting with big smiles were all these amazingly wonderful Jem fans to surprise me. Well I was floored enough just by them showing up for me like that but what transpired was so wonderful and humbling it brought me to tears. I was read this amazing letter which I've included below and they had all gotten together along with many unseen faces in the JEM community
 jemcon
and bought me one of the new collector JEM dolls from the Hasbro / Integrity doll line. I also received an amazing framed collage of many moments at All-con and a brilliant orignal piece of art of ROXY from The Misfits!!!
I am still beyond touched by their kindness, Ashley and Bobby, and Amy and everyone else that drove down and participated in buyin my beautiful Jem doll -  to make my birthday the best ever - this one goes down in the record books for sure!!!

JULY
When I got back from LA I started doing some shows with an awesome Pink Floyd Tribute band called
Bricks in the wall
(The sights and sounds of Pink floyd)They are the longest running Pink Floyd tribute band in the US and it takes 13 of us including pro sound and lighting crew to pull of this amazing 2 hour production. I have the joy of contributing background vocals to the project and have been having such a great time with everyone involved. What an awesome group of talented musicians and singers - here is a video of the girls Tiffany Belle, Rachael Bean and myself sharing the iconic "Great gig in the sky".

Back in Texas In JUNE of this year was and invite into a brand new project singing lead vocals for a really fun original rock band called
LYDIAS LIBIDO.
(OFFICIAL WEBSITE)

I got an email from a sweet JEM fan saying she had a freind here in Fort Worth who was looking for a female lead singer. I arranged to meet with the wonderful Gary McGrath the MD of the project and turns out he's a Grammy award winning producer writer, worked with Bon Jovi, The Monkey's, Def Lepoard, Queensryche, had a gold record in London for his album "The McGrath Project"  and the list goes on and is an amazingly talented writer/producer/musician.
We met and clicked right away and once I came on board, we moved on things so fast - we wrote and recorded the entire Lydia's Libido debut album in 4 days. Then we released it online in July and sold 4000 units in our first two weeks out which was beyond encouraging. Gary even had a running bet with his friend Richie Sambora that he coudn't pull it off in the time frame - Gary winning the bet, ended up with this truly fantastic guitar from Richie - not sure what kind it is but It's pretty sweet!
The four other crazy talented musicians in the project were already in place - Dean Minnerly (Keys), Andy Weaver (Drums) and Shawn Iaeger (bass). Gary quickly under his lable 4818 Records booked  our first live show in Los Angeles in July and we had a whirlwind few days there

(here is a video montage of our whirlwind trip shot by our drummer Andy Weaver)
that included playing live, press and radio and photo shoots and also
4 Days in LA with Lyidas Libido

we shot our first two official videos.
Official video "Steal your soul"
Official video "Release Me"
- A special shout out and thanks goes to our unofficial 6th bandmate
 Xanthia Pink

otherwise known as makeup artist queen, hairstylist, cupcake gifter, bomshell pinup girl, spirit lifter - We love you Xanthia!!! Thanks for being my cheerleader and making me look and feel beautiful!!!

October
Lydias Libido is now two weeks away now from an 11 city tour and we couldn't be more excited!! Dean and Shawn are moving to Texas as you are reading this, Gary is helping drive the Penski and finally we will all be a band here together and will start rehearsals for the tour asap.
Starting October 16th we go to Waco TX, then Fort Worth, then St Louis, then onto Cleveland, OH, Chicago,IL, New York, New Mexico, New Orleans, Houston, Austin and possibly more dates to come - check our Lydia's Libido tour schedule on our official site for dates, times and venues.
We also have been writing more material for the tour and will be adding 4 brand new songs to our set and plan to release an EP by Christmas of Brand new Lydia material.

Happy trails all the way to LA . . .

Hey everyone, as I try to type with this long nails I just opted for

hope this newsletter finds you well and enjoying the first days of Summer! Can you believe June's almost over? Crazyness. It's been a while since I sent a newsletter out and I thought it was about time I said hi and shared some things I'm up to.

Firstly, It's my birthday June 27th and since I'm not going to be in Dallas with family for my birthday, my family threw me a little wonderful pre-birthday dinner yummy italian place here and when I was strangly ushered ouside for us to have Bday cake, I walked onto the patio and was surprised by a bunch of amazing Jem fans that have driven some of them from Huston to surprise me for my Birthday. Not only that but they proceeded to gift me my very own brand new Integrity "Classic Jem" doll as a gift. The amazing part also was that about 30 fans from all over the world had pitched in through the JEM message boards to come together and buy me my own doll. I was beyond humbled and so thrilled and grateful. I have the most amazing fans in the world - I will treasure her and she is coming on tour with me so look for JEM in lots of travel pics soon to come!!!!

I'm off to Los Angles tomorrow Tuesday the 25th for a week to record vocals for my new album which will be my 3rd solo album. I've been busy writing new songs since "Somethin' Good" came out and now it's time to create some recording magic with my dear friend Dave Polich www.davepolich.com again and I truly can't wait to work on this new material with him again. Hopefully no floods this time as there were tremendous rains in LA when we recorded "Somethin' Good" and Dave studio started to almost float away - luckly non of his gear was damaged. Litterally we were done with vocals and he was handing me rough mixes to leave with and he walked across the studio carpet to hand it to me and the carpet was soaked. You can imagine total pandamoniam insued with Dave running around the outside of the house in the pouring rain trying to figure out how the water was getting in. That was in May so I'm thinkin' now all we have to worry about it 100 degree days and shutting the air off between takes so the mic doesn't pick it up - think I can live with that.

After I get back from Los Angeles, I will be embarking on rehearsals for this new really fun side project called "Lydia's Libido" - We have our first show booked in Burbank CA July 27th so I'll be pretty much turning right back around from Dallas to head back to CA again end of July.

 "Lydia's Libido" project is:
Samantha Newark
Gary McGrath
Dean Minnerly
Andy Weaver

Gary who is a Grammy winning artist / producer / musician and I met through a truly outrageous Jem fan Amy Rhodes who has been friends with him for quite a while. He was looking for a female singer to front the band so I went to meet Gary at his studio in Fort Worth to see if this might be a cool side project to explore and in less than a week we had recorded 8 songs a co-wrote on a few  for "Lydia's Libido". The musicians invoved are stellar and have played with everybody from Bon Jovi to Queensrÿche to Aretha Franklin, all amazing players. The vibe is Rock and I am the front woman which i guess makes me "Lydia". The record is coming out July 16th on hot Pink Vinyl as well as digital download and we are playing our first live show in Burbank CA on July 27th. So "Like" us on our FB band page and listen to a sneak peak of some of the songs from the soon to be released album on Soundcloud https://soundcloud.com/lydias-libido - we'll keep you posted on all that is "Lydia's Libido"

I'm also working with an amazing Pink Floyd Tribute band here in Dallas called "Bricks in the wall" www.bricksinthewall.com where I am one of 3 backup singers singing the imcomprable material of Pink floyd with the full on amazing production light lazer show etc...They are all super talented musicians and I'm doing a few shows coming up with them next couple of months so check my events calendar on my website for more info.

So that's the scoop for now, thanks so much for reading and I can't wait to bring you more fun news soon!!!

Love and hugs, "Stay Outrageous"
Sam xo

Happy March!! a wee bit toward the middle

Hey Everyone,
Happy March!!

I hope that life is bringing everyone more fun than stress and that you are starting to warm up a bit and feel that Summer actually maybe right around the corner.
I don't know about you but I'm soooooo lovin' that the clocks have swung forward and we have another hour of glorious sunlight. It's been warm here in Texas and you can see some of the trees starting to bloom their little green buds. Spring is about to burst and I can't wait. If It were up to me, the clocks would stay where they are and never bounce around -like Arizona, not a fan of the "Fall Back".
I'm proud to say that I'm slowly getting my happy summer body back - I'm down 16 lbs since January. I've cheated mildly here and there but I'm doing really well and have maybe 20  to 25 to go.

Thanks to all of you that just recently signed up on my mailing list most likely at All-Con in DAllas Texas last weekend. What a great time was had by all. It was awesome to get to meet you all in person. Too many wonderful Jem fans to even be able to mention so I posted a lot of great pics on my facebook page http://www.facebook.com/samanthanewark for you to check out.

Thanks especially to Todd for inviting me and the wonderful all volunteer staff !! Miss Amy, Jonathan, Ashley, Bobby, Erica, Warren - you guys rock!! thanks for making us feel so welcome and gifting us an awesome dinner at Outback Steakhouse. I also got to have my Mama with me helping me with my merch table which is always such a treat.
I was thrilled to start to see a lot of the new JEM doll line from Hasbro/Integrity Toys. Fans brought them for me to autograph and they are really beautiful right down to the boxes they come in.

.

During my weekend at All-Con Dallas I was invited to come to be a guest at
JEMCON 2014 http://www.jemcon.org being held in Toronto Canada.
I've worked with many Canadians on music projects over the years and I've had countless emails and letters from fans who grew up watching Jem in Canada and have been asking when I'm coming up there to see them.
My best friend of 20 years Cindy Dolenc http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0230938/ is from Toronto,
It's about time I got up to Canada, so mark your calendars kids late 2014 - details to follow later in the year.

It's fun when Jem fans send me celebrity Jem shoutouts that they hear about so send me stuff that you find and I'll post it on Facebook - here is the latest from Alicia Keys and Jimmy Fallon talking about "Jem and the holograms" and singing the "Truly Outrageous" theme song - worth a watch

On the music front :
Although it's taking a while to find the right fit for my electronic duo live collaborative adventure here in Dallas
I'm excited to get back to recording new music.
I'm embarking on recording a bunch of new songs with Producer Dave Polich http://www.davepolich.com - he is the genius talent behind the production of my album "Somethin' Good" and did extra cool programming on my single "Perfect Eyelashes" (both available here in my store)
I have 5 or 6 new songs that I'm excited about that he's started working on - so to say I'm lit up about being back in recording mode with Dave is an uderstatement.
We will be working long distance at this point while he has a break in the Dave Foster schedule. He in Los Angeles and myself in Dallas flying files back and forth. Can't wait to hear his production magic on this new stuff!!
If the cool live line-up doesn't come together soon -  I'll just be hitting clubs singing my songs off my album and the brand new stuff Dave and I are doing just me and my jammin' tracks.

On the home front:
A shoutout to my beautiful youngest Sister Sally who celebrated her 23rd Birthday March 13th -  Happy Birthday sweet Sister!!

Doggie News:
We found out our neighbors are actually crazy dog nappers - but the story has a happy ending thank God.
Meet Gracie Daisy Corgie Pants -  She likes to run and play and kiss your face and dig, and being a brand new rescue pup, we didn't realize that she would delightfully dig herself right under the new backyard fence and get out and go exploring the neighborhood.
She didn't come back for four days. We were cauciously optomistic as she is microchipped but we hadn't gotten her brand new tag yet so she was not wearing her collar.
We put flyers out everywhere and called every pound and rescue place we could find. We finally got a phone call on day number four from a lady saying she thought she may have our dog but her boys were going to be so hearbroken to have to return her. We called the number back and she woudn't pick up or return the calls. Finally a man picked up and said he didn't know anything about a damn dog - so we did what any pet lover would do and called the police. They came over and were kind enough to leave her a voice-mail saying if this was indeed not their dog then it was theft and they would be charged and they might want to consider seeing if It's indeed our lost Gracie. Well that's all it took and she called back and I went over and picked her up - Turns out it was our neighbor that we had met when we first moved in and she lives four houses down from us on the same street - Wow really??!!!
All is well that ends well and we are so happy to have our girl back but I'm thinking we might just have to let her pee on their grass next time she's out for her walk.

I'm also really excited to be expecting my Sister Caroline's arrival for my Step Dads Birthday celebration in late April.

I've not hugged my Sis in two years It's just tough sometimes living so far apart. Finally we can be together for a long weekend and Celebrate my Step Daddy and be with many of our extended family all together. Caroline and I like to smoke cigars when we're together, It's so fun and ridiculous, I'll make sure I share some pics of the party weekend.

We well, safe travels and Stay outrageous all!
 love Sam xo

Happy February!!

Hey everyone,
Happy February!! Can you believe it? Time truly does fly so I hope you guys are making it count.
I’m loving Dallas, we get so much sunshine here, there’s a ton to do and see and I know I’ve barely scratched the surface here - It makes me happy!
I do wish I had more music news to share with you right now. I’m working on putting an electronic duo together just vocals and synth programmer extraordinaire so I can start playing my material live but It takes time in a new city to meet like minded musicians that are really pro, so I’m on it, but It’s just taking some time. I’ve got a ton of new material plus the stuff off my two albums that I can’t wait to play live!!!!
I don’t know about you but over the holidays and truthfully before that during my move to Texas, It was an extravaganza of grilled Cheese sandwiches and fries, Mexican food and anything savory and salty that I could get my hands on as well as much merriment with wine or a cocktail to alleviate the stress of moving to a new city. I swear I’ve never seen these numbers on the scale before and I was just simply horrified enough start the journey back to being healthy and the size that I feel most comfortable and empowered at. I do confess to being a bit of an emotional eater (I’m sure some of you can relate). So the point is, I’ve not been feeling too excited about getting on stage right now so bare with me while I work this out - I love this quote by Joel Osteen that says “The way you see yourself and feel about yourself will have a tremendous impact on how far you go in life and whether or not you fulfill your destiny.” I decided to give myself a bit of a break to really work on me and take care of my mind, body and spirit.
I am going to be a guest at this year’s ALL-CON www.all-con.org/ in beautiful Dallas Texas in March and can’t wait to meet all the truly outrageous Jem fans in person. I’m sure I’ll actually get to see one of the brand new JEM dolls in the flesh  www.integritytoys.com/jemandtheholograms/about.php and sign a few of them, so I’m looking forward to that. I’ve heard some great stuff about this convention so I’m looking forward to going and experiencing it for myself. Check out the link for more details if you plan on being in the Dallas area.

Well, that’s all for now, I hope you all are filling your days up with something wonderful that makes you feel alive and happy and on purpose.

Stay outrageous!!

"Perfect Eyelashes"

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!
I HOPE YOU ARE ALL OFF TO A GREAT START AND EXCITED ABOUT THE YEAR AHEAD.
AROUND CHRISTMAS TIME I DECIDED TO HAVE A CONTEST WITH THE JEM COMMUNITY ON MY FACEBOOK PAGE
TO CREATE THE COVER ARTWORK FOR MY NEW SINGLE "PERFECT EYELASHES"
THE TALENTED PEOPLE IN THE COMMUNITY GOT ROCKIN' PRETTY QUICK AND SOON THERE WERE MANY SUBMISSIONS TO CHOOSE FROM.
I'M NOT OF THE MIND SET THAT EVERYONE SHOULD ALWAYS GET A PRIZE AND EVERYONE DESERVES TO WIN ETC...I THINK THAT TAKES AWAY PEOPLES INCENTIVE TO REALLY STRIVE TO WIN AND TO DO SOMETHING AMAZING BUT THAT BEING SAID, THE IDEA OF A COLLAGE OF ALL THE SUBMISSIONS WAS PRESENTED AND I THOUGHT THAT WAS A REALLY COOL IDEA.
IT WAS GOING TO BE HARD TO CHOOSE IN ALL HONESTY AS THERE ARE SO MANY COOL SUBMISSIONS FOR THE SONG.
EVERYONE HAD ALSO CREATED THEIR PIECE WITH ONLY THE LYRICS IN MIND WHICH I WAS REALLY IMPRESSED WITH TOO.
I'M EXCITED TO BRING YOU MY NEW SONG "PERFECT EYELASHES" AND HONORED TO SHARE THE FABULOUS AND CREATIVE ARTWORK OF THE MANY JEM FANS ON FACEBOOK THAT MADE THIS SO SPECIAL

"PERFECT EYELASHES"
IS AVAILABLE AS A SINGLE DOWNLOAD IN MY OFFICIAL STORE AND I HOPE YOU WILL STOP BY AND LISTEN TO A SNEAK PREVIEW AND IF YOU LIKE, TELL A FRIEND, HOPEFULLY WHO IS A MUSIC SUPERVISOR AND WANTS TO PLACE IT IN TONS OF FILM AND TV PROJECTS. I HOPE YOU LOVE IT AND DOWNLOAD THE SONG, IT'S JUST .99 CENTS
THE MONEY ALWAYS GOES RIGHT BACK IN THE POT TO HELP ME KEEP WRITING RECORDING NEW MATERIAL.

MORE NEWS TO COME SOON!!!
THANKS FOR BEING A PART OF MY MUSIC AND THE TRULY OUTRAGEOUS JEM WORLD
