SAMANTHA NEWARK

Samantha is best known for her voice-over animation work in 1980s cult classic cartoon series Jem and The Holograms as the speaking voices of “Jem” and “Jerrica Benton”.

Other voice-over credits include guest-starring on the original Transformers: Generation 1 cartoon as "Ariel"  and "Elise Presser". Samantha was also cast as the voice of a young Peter Pan's mother in Steven Spielberg’s feature film Hook. Samantha has also leant her voice-over work and singing talent to blockbuster video game titles including God Of War, Wild Arms 3, Twisted Metal Black and Britney’s Dance Beat. Samantha has been featured in countless other on camera and voice-over TV and radio commercials.

Samantha began her professional music career at the age of seven. Signed to Nitty Gritty Records, she recorded her first record while living in Africa and then toured to support her single "Jimmy Jimbo" produced by Allan Goldswain and Mike Adams. At age ten, she and her family immigrated to America and Samantha was promptly signed to International Creative Management where she was thrust onto the state fair circuit opening for Eddie Rabbitt, Pat and Debby Boone and Mac Davis.

Samantha sang the theme song “In Your Eyes” for the classic anime feature film Project A-ko working with industry talents Joey Carbone and Richie Zito. She was hired by them again on another studio album for Japan, The American Train. She then went on to be cast as the singing voice for the on-camera actress Ivana Miličević, performing multiple songs on the film soundtrack for the movie Crazy Six starring Rob Lowe, Burt Reynolds, and Mario Van Peebles.

While living in Los Angeles Samantha worked as a busy session singer for Emmy Award winning writer and producer Michèle Vice-Maslin. She has worked in the EDM world co-writing a song called "Deeper" for the German group Fragma. Musician Frank Shofner hired Samantha to sing on his dance remixes of the Hall and Oates classic “I Can’t Go for That”. In late 2007 she auditioned for Julian Coryell to be a backup singer for Leonard Cohen. The exciting project was set to do a world tour but after three months of rehearsals the tour was abruptly cancelled and shelved for three years. Samantha toured extensively as a back up singer with the longest running US Pink Floyd tribute act Bricks In The Wall playing to sold out crowds at House of Blues venues from Dallas to New Orleans.

Samantha made her move to "Music City" Nashville, Tennessee in October 2007. She released her self-titled debut album in 2008 with co-writer producer Johnny Douglas. Songs from the album have been featured in numerous television programs including Smallville, Reba, Life Is Wild, Gossip Girl, America’s Next Top Model as well as MTV’s Laguna Beach, Punk’d and My Super Sweet 16.

Samantha released her second original studio album "Somethin' Good" in late October 2011 with all songs written and performed by Samantha and produced by Dave Polich, Michael Jackson's keyboard programmer on the “This Is It” concerts.

Samantha's third album "Hologram" was released in February of 2017 and saw her team up once again with Dave Polich. She described the album as a "love letter" to her many devoted Jem fans.

In 2016, LGBTQ artivist Ari Gold introduced Samantha to his long-time producer and friend, Jared Jones. Jones was known for his work with artists such as RuPaul, Taylor Dayne, Mary Wilson, Lynda Carter, Solange Knowles, Manila Luzon, La Toya Jackson, Levi Kreis and more. Gold suggested Jared to Samantha as she was interested in producing a remix album for her then upcoming album "Hologram". Jones is known for being a talented dance music producer.

After several years of hard work, delays, and a global pandemic, “Hologram 2.0" has been completed. The album was produced by Jared Jones and features remixes from Jared Jones, Matt Moss, Dr. Brooks, Darren Burgos, ei8ht and Hyperbubble. Guest appearances from vocalist Tiffany Belle along with rap artists Jipsta and Red Martinez are also featured. The album also includes a brand new bonus track titled "I Won't Fake" produced by Jared Jones.
